The students at Shamrock Educational
Academy come from very diverse family, ethnic and educational backgrounds.
We review each applicant carefully to ensure that Shamrock is a good match
for the student and family. Our students come to Shamrock from all over the United States, as well as other countries. Shamrock is SEVIS I-20 approved, and authorized under Federal law to enroll International students.
Shamrock students cannot be categorized, but many are underachievers who
are intelligent, but not performing to their abilities. Many of our students
have been diagnosed with ADD, ADHD, ODD and learning disabilities. Some
are ESL students, and many have struggled within the school system for
many years before enrolling at Shamrock. The majority of our students
have difficulty accepting parenting decisions, and in addition to school
issues, may have experimented with alcohol or drugs. We do not accept
applicants with severe emotional, behavioral or psychiatric problems,
or with severe addiction issues.
Some of our students are initially resistive to enrollment at Shamrock,
but over time learn to appreciate the opportunities offered from a small,
specialized school as well as their families at home.
The structured environment of Shamrock offers our students the chance
to develop confidence in their abilities to deal with their peer group.
Decision making, accountability for actions, honesty and respect are emphasized.
Group counseling sessions help our students develop emotional honesty,
and tools to deal effectively with confrontation and frustration.
